Tracking …

November 14, 2009 waterswife

I am a creature of habit, and therefore on weekdays when I am at work, I eat almost the exact same thing at the exact same time … every day. This usually goes on for weeks and then I get tired of one or more components and I’ll mix it up … and then eat that menu for several weeks.

So here’s the problem. I don’t get tired of the food, I get tired of the tracking. I feel a deep sense of deja vu when I am writing the exact same thing over … and over … and over. And then that causes me to NOT want to track. It’s like, what’s the point? I usually have the same number of points left when I leave work each day and then I have a dinner/snack that stays within those points.

Ugh, is this even making sense? It’s weird. When I am at work, I have the best willpower. I very rarely give in and cheats at work.

Any advice? Just shush up and track, right? LOL

I'm the same way too. It's easier for me, at least right now, to eat a lot of the same stuff. The way I get away from writing down every little thing is by having a short-cut name. I saw that I was eating all the same stuff all the time, so I wrote down meal combinations on a master list (notebook) so I can refer to that for portions/points. Like for example, one of the meals I eat for lunch is:1 wheat pita-1 pt6 slices of lunchmeat-1lettuce & tomato-01 oz cheese-2ranch spray & bacon bits-1*1/4 avocado-2So instead of writing all that crap down in my journal i write "pita sammich +/- that daggum avocado that sometimes just tastes sooo good".My hard meal is dinner, fixing for two what I can also eat. I find that if I don't journal during the day, I'm more apt to "cheat" a little on the dinner portion/points.Hope that helped a lil'. You're doing awesome girl!

keep tracking! or maybe keep a mental tally in your head? or if you change up your menu, then you'll have different points to write down.

Are you doing the online program or the meetings? If you're doing online, it's super easy to just save a whole meal as a favorite, and then it's just a few clicks to retrack your entire day. But I do understand. When I do weight watchers, the biggest setback is finding the time/willpower to sit down and track all my foods.
