our year in review

Tyson’s dad’s side of the family has a tradition where at their holiday party, everyone brings a copy of their “yearly report” for everyone. It’s such a fun idea! Not only does it save you on some postage, but it’s fun comparing letters. Also, it’s cool that it doesn’t have to be a Christmas letter, just a year in review letter. BUT…I have to admit, it was fun opening the mailbox and getting all the letters and cards this year!

To those who sent us letters/cards, THANK YOU! We loved reading them all! And I promise to do better next year. I know it’s not as fun as finding it in your mailbox, but here is a copy of what I wrote for our yearly report:

Dear Friends and Family,

This year turned out to be quite an eventful one for us! We started out the year living in different cities. Tyson’s work (Sento Corp) sent him to Raleigh, North Carolina for two months to set up and train their division out there. While he was there working, he fell in love with the city and the people he met. I was stuck back in Salt Lake City, and was growing jealous of his many stories, so I flew out for the weekend to check out this “amazing” place. Of course, I loved it there too! At the end of the weekend it was hard to leave my honey and this beautiful town.

While Tyson was in Raleigh, my parents received their mission call to Boston, Massachusetts and were to enter the MTC on Feb 12. This presented a problem for us as we were planning on becoming engaged and we wanted our parents to meet each other before mine left. Tyson finished his project and flew home the first week in Feb. The following week was a whirlwind of dinners with parents and Tyson asking my dad for my hand in marriage.

Now, keep in mind, Tyson hadn’t even proposed yet! We had been dating for two years, we’d done the meet the parents deal, and we had even gone ring shopping, so Tyson didn’t think that he’d be able to surprise me with a proposal. Well, he managed to surprise me by showing up on my doorstep bright and early Valentines Day morning. I was still half asleep, in my pajamas, and completely confused why he had shown up 12 hours early for our date! He popped the question right then and there!

We had a fun-filled summer full of wedding planning and apartment hunting and on August 3, we were sealed for time and eternity in the Mt Timpanogos Temple. It was so wonderful seeing so many of you at our reception. We truly were blessed! And we were surprised that my parents were able to fly in for the wedding.

Since being married we have had many, many adventures. We’ve had cars break down, dinners burned, and a snake in our kitchen! You can read all about these fun things on our blog at http://tysonaimee.blogspot.com/
